Founded in 1963, by brothers Des and Trevor Brougham, the Des’s Group began as a three-car taxi company in Whyalla. The two brothers drove taxis part time throughout the sixties.
Throughout the sixties, Des’s continued to grow. Sadly, tragedy struck in 1974 when Trevor Brougham passed away in a plane crash. Chris, Trevor’s oldest son who was just 20 years old at the time was left to take over as managing director whilst also looking after the rest of his family.
Since then, the business has grown tremendously and now employs 300 staff and subcontractors across the Des’s Group Companies which now includes Des’s Minibus, Des’s Cabs, Des’s EZYrent Self Drive and Des’s Transport.
Three generations of the Brougham Family have worked at Des’s over the years, reiterating Des’s status as a true family business.
And what happened to Des? Uncle Des as he was affectionately known sadly passed in 2023 at the age of 96. We are sure he still watches with pride the progress of the Des’s businesses under the reigns of his nephew and the wider Brougham family.
